Job Description
Propulsion Plant Team Trainer (PPTT) Simulator Engineering (PSE) is
a multi-site unit engaged in the design, production, testing, and
delivery of the PPTT to support the Next Generation Training
Program (NGTP). PSE's primary focus is PPTT components and modules,
the interactive portion of the simulated environment, which will be
integrated into the first-of-a-kind PPTT that transforms Navy
training for decades to come.
An exciting opportunity is now available for a multidisciplined
engineer to support these ongoing efforts. This posting is open to
Engineers willing to work at either the Bettis Site (PA) or the
Kesselring Site (NY).
The successful candidate for this position will:
--- Plan and conduct independent work efforts throughout the
project lifecycle
--- Interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are
being met
--- Perform design reviews and technical interchanges with
Suppliers
--- Review and disposition Supplier design submittals to validate
designs based on technical requirements
--- Support on-site hardware inspections and testing of production
equipment at Supplier facilities
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in
engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant
experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or
university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of
relevant experience; or Currently or previously NPE qualified; or
CTE/ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations
Program; or Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling
Engineer and 1 year as SRE.
Preferred Skills
Experience in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Training Program
Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software
Experience evaluating, and creating, designs against approved
technical requirements
Experience working with external Suppliers
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to think creatively and to proactively make recommendations
to management
Comfortable working independently or in a group setting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Pay Range
$83,600.00 - $130,700.00 annually

salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as
well as market and business considerations
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of
Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned
subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel
are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic
Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A.
Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S.
Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston.

shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval
Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion

nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our
nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear
Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval
Nuclear Propulsion Program. We rely on the dedication and
innovation of our nearly 8000 engineers, scientists, technicians,
and support personnel.
