Starting Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Finance & Business Operations to join our leadership team. As Connecticut's only accredited zoo, we welcome over 250,000 visitors annually while fulfilling our mission of conservation, education, research, and providing an exceptional guest experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Finance & Business Operations will lead financial strategy, planning, and management for the Zoo. This role is instrumental in ensuring financial stability, compliance, and growth, as well as partnering with the Directors of Retail and Events to drive business development and revenue generation.Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the Zoo's mission and strategic objectives.
• Oversee all financial activities, including accounting, investments, and internal controls.
• Prepare and present financial reports to the CEO, leadership team, and the Board Finance Committee.
• Lead budgeting processes, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with goals.
• Manage annual audits and implement corrective actions as necessary.
• Identify new revenue streams and optimize existing business opportunities.
• Serve as the primary liaison with banks, auditors, and investment consultants.
• Supervise and mentor the Accounting Manager and Finance team.What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 3 years supervising accounting staff.
  • Strong nonprofit accounting knowledge and expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and compliance.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or similar financial software.
